People who are involved in stress-producing situations often develop psychological, physical, or psychosomatic symptoms (e.g., irrational thoughts, headaches, high blood pressure, diarrhea). When these symptoms continue or increasingly intensify there exists a possible serious threat to one's health and well-being. Stress affects not only those who are actively working, but also school and university students.
Some tips for relieving stress are very simple. Things like having a hot beverage and wrapping your hands around the cup and feeling the warmth on your hands. Also, keep a stress diary, so any time you are stressed write it down in the diary and look back on those stress times and see if you can avoid them. This other tip might sound a little crazy, but it works. Put on your headphones, listen to your music and dance around the room like no one can see you. Lastly, try meditation. Try and find a quiet place, sit comfortably with your feet on the ground and concentrate on your breathing, in and out. Breath in for the count of five and out for the count of five. If your mind starts to wander, bring it back to concentrating on your breathing. Start with 5 minutes a day.
